Having a roof vent with a powered fan gives you a few advantages;
- Ability to draw in cold air at night – or to help the van cool down during the day
- Ability to extract cooking steam or stuffy hot air
The Thule fan has more of a broad effect – it works but sort of distributes the air all around the van. In my mind I imagined a strong fan blowing down on me when I am laying sweaty AF in the bed – it was going to be amazing – but it simply doesn’t do that which was rather disappointing.
At £220 / $280 it did not perform how I hoped but it does work in the way I imagine it was intended – broadly circulate the air around the van and it extracts cooking steam efficiently. Over all it was worth it but to get the fan effect I desired I have bought a small 12v clip-on fan for about $20.
